What We Collect
When you use the birth chart calculator, you submit your birth date, birth time (optional), birth location, and optionally your first name. This information is used solely to calculate your planetary positions and generate your reading. It is not stored in any database and is not retained after your session ends.
If Google Analytics is enabled on this site, it collects anonymous site usage data: pages visited, time on site, device type, and general geographic region (country/city level). This data does not include personally identifiable information and is used only to understand how the site is being used.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings page.
Cookies
We use session storage (not persistent cookies) to pass your chart data between the calculator pages. This data is not sent to any third party and is cleared when you close your browser tab. If enabled, Google Analytics and Google AdSense set their own cookies; their respective privacy policies apply.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.
Anthropic (Claude API): Your birth details and calculated planetary positions are sent to Anthropic's API to generate your reading. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: Your birth city and country are sent to the Nominatim geocoding service to convert them into coordinates for the planetary calculation. No personal data is retained by Nominatim.
Google Analytics: If enabled, anonymous usage data. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google AdSense: Advertising cookies. See Google's advertising policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Stripe: If you buy a report, your payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly; we do not see or store your payment information. Stripe collects your email address so it can send you a receipt. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Payments and Refunds
The full birth chart report is a one-time payment of $29 USD. Each report is calculated and written for your specific birth details at the moment you order it.
We will refund you in full if the report does not arrive, if it is unreadable or incomplete, or if the birth details it was calculated from are wrong through a fault on our side. Write to us at privacy@theancientskies.com within 30 days.
We cannot refund a report simply because you disagree with what it says. Astrology is an interpretive tradition, not a measurement, and the report is honest about what it can and cannot tell you before you buy it. If something in yours looks factually wrong, tell us, because we would rather fix it.
If your payment goes through but your report does not appear, contact us at privacy@theancientskies.com with your payment confirmation and we will send you a copy. Your report is stored against your order for two years, so it can always be recovered.
Data Retention
We do not retain any birth data or generated readings. No user accounts exist. Nothing about you is stored on our servers between sessions.
Your Rights

Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
